The music festivals people attend can reveal which drugs they enjoy taking.
That’s because concertgoers actually reveal what drugs they’re taking on social media, as the Coalition Against Drug Abuse points out in a new survey of Instagram posts mentioning drugs during festival events.
Marijuana comes in as the third most-mentioned substance at festivals, which shouldn’t come as a surprise, judging by the louder, more obnoxious counterparts of weed.
Alcohol is the most frequently mentioned drug on Instagram posts from various music festivals, obviously due to its widespread acceptance and the fact that it is legal. Second, MDMA is the drug of choice at countless EDM shows such as the Electric Daisy Carnival and the Ultra Music Festival, which take place in various locations throughout the year rather than just once a year.
The best festival for smoking large amounts of cannabis is, of course, the Nine Mile Marley Festival, which annually brings Florida potheads together under the stereotypical backdrop of a reggae concert. It’s also one of the few festivals in the US where alcohol isn’t the most popular substance.
In fact, the Marley Fest came in as the most drugged-up festival overall, with over 93 percent of Instagram posts referring to the event’s drug use. Even EDC and Ultra partygoers had more to say about the music than the Molly, taking third and sixth respectively.
While the best weed party has already ended, be sure to light up some greenery at Camp Bisco in Pennsylvania and Bonnaroo Festival in Tennessee, which ranks second and third when it comes to naming marijuana.
