Jack in the Box is ready for legal weed

Long Beach locations sell “Merry Munchie Meals” for $4.20, in a collaboration with hometown hero Snoop Dogg. Tour!

Jack in the Box called “Jack in the Crack”, but really, it’s Jack in the Weed.

In January, the fast food empire is collaborating with Snoop Dog on a “Merry Munchie Mealthat explicitly addresses the legality of adult cannabis in California. It will only be available in Long Beach—the rapper’s hometown—January 18-25, but if you’re in the 562, you can get two tacos, fries, onion rings, five mini churros, three chicken strips, and one small drink for only $4.20.

That’s a damn deal. And if Bloomberg reported with a straight face: “The prize is not arbitrary: the number 420 is used as a code by potheads.”

Who knows? Still, this isn’t all that different from everything else on Jack in the Box’s menu, which is already showing its hand at regular Munchie Meals aimed at the late-night crowd craving bad treats and the occasional two-tacos-for -$.99 offers. It is not that this particular combination contains real cannabis edibles. But the second-tier fast-food supplier is struggling after handing over the Qdoba brand to a private equity firm a few weeks ago. Whatever the underlying economics of this partnership, you can’t argue with the value of all those yummy fried things for under five bucks.
