There is nothing revolutionary about an oil-based vape pen in 2016. We’ve seen them, we’ve used them, and we’ve gotto expect them. What makes hmbldt’s dosing vape pens so unique is their claim to be a solution to the perennial problem of consistency in cannabis consumption.
We’ve all had the experience of eating an over-potent edible or buying a favorite strain for the 11th time only to find that its properties and effects have changed since our last session. Knowing what we get from cannabis consumption has been a luxury that many of us have wanted to give up, but now we may not have to.
Hmbldt has created four unique oil solutions chemically engineered to meet four specific needs. All four formulas contain a ratio of 88 percent cannabinoids to 12 percent terpenes.
With Bliss, the cannabinoids pictured have been specifically selected for their uplifting properties. Bliss also offers the highest amount of THC among the formulas at 1.49mg per dose and 330mg per pen. Alternatively, Sleep has 1.46mg of THC per dose with 0.18mg of CBD. While not discussed in this article, Relief uses a much higher CBD quotient (three times that of Bliss), while Calm focuses on calming cannabanoids.
Similar to the concept behind McDonald’s fries consistency (though certainly not hmbldt’s business ideal), hmbldt lets you buy a pen in pharmacies across the country and expect the exact same experience every time. It’s an attractive prospect, but I can’t speak to it in good faith, as I don’t need to replace either pen. That’s right, these babies last! Each pen is built to deliver 200 doses, and that’s where the fun lies.
The hmbldt pens don’t look very different from an oblong thermometer and have a clean plastic shell that leaves no chance of leakage and little room to break. Although the pens are disposable, hmbldt includes literature in each box on how to recycle the units (with the promise of a discount for those who fulfill their duties). In addition to the consistency the formula provides, each pen is also designed to deliver the exact same dose every time you take a puff.
Drag it with zeal or inhale slowly – you’ll get a precise, measured dose from the hmbldt. Once you’ve reached the threshold, the mouth offers an iPhone-like vibration to let you know you’re done. Before anyone gets all upset about having their smoking sessions regulated, you should know that you can take as many consecutive doses as you want. The hmbldt literature that comes with each pen suggests that you limit yourself to three doses per hour, but it will certainly vary widely based on tolerances and whether you share it with friends.
The Bliss dose is a very pleasant but hardly overpowering buzz. Posted as an uplifting high, I didn’t feel too much of anything from a single dose. The effects were nice but definitely on the subtle side. I think two doses spaced a few minutes apart is probably necessary for anyone starting sober and looking to finish somewhere else. That said, Bliss’s taste and purity were both impressive, a testament to hmbldt’s commitment to using high-quality Humboldt-sourced flowers and rigorously testing their products before putting them on the shelves. The Bliss pen may not take you to space, but you can be quite impressed with it in record time.
With the Sleep pen, there was no completely noticeable difference. I didn’t hit my sleeping pen and suddenly have to hit the pillow, just like I wasn’t giggling uncontrollably after smoking the Bliss. In short, I’m skeptical that you should think too much about which pen to start with, although with the most THC, Bliss certainly sets the tone for what to expect from that formula. After reaching sleep, I felt like I could easily slip into a good night’s sleep (I tasted it shortly before bed), so for those with insomnia who may not want a full-blown high, a single dose of sleep will probably hit the spot. place.
In summary, I am definitely a convert to the hmbldt brand. I think these pens are best used as a personal pick-me-up versus large group gatherings, but with low odor and extreme ease of transport, I can turn the hmbldt Bliss into my favorite travel accessory. I brought my pen to a concert this past weekend and took my controlled dosage as Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters worked his way through “Wish You Were Here” was definitely lucky.
