Most cannabis does not taste like it smells. My wife would tell you that all “pot tastes like pot”. I think she’s at least kind of right: Most pot tastes a bit like schwag — or slightly sweetened schwag. However, the immediately available top layer at The Green Door is certainly an exception.
The Green Door has always been my favorite pharmacy. It’s close to my house and always sells the best cannabis in town – and maybe beyond. I have dear friends who run cannabis tastings, and cannabis from The Green Door almost always wins (the rare exception is when an incredible grower shows up with private stock that is unavailable to 99 percent of us mere mortals).
And acquiring it is an enhanced experience. The pharmacy recently removed the bulletproof glass at the budtender counter. I much prefer this: I’m a patient, not a criminal. And once at the counter I feel genuinely accepted and valued. Other pharmacies have staff who can be sassy, pretentious and rude. As busy as the budtenders are here, they absolutely take the time to answer all my questions. And if they don’t have the answer, they bring a manager into the discussion. I cannot emphasize enough how valuable this is to the medical patient.
The menu here is divided into two sections: high-quality and “green-tag special”. The green-tag material is discounted, but not because it’s B-grade; the pharmacy simply paid less for it.
I once found a little bit of mold in a bag of green-tag special Granddaddy Purple. When I brought the bag in to show the problem, the pharmacy immediately – just like before they finished with me – pulled the rotten meds from the shelves. They generously offered me another bag but doubled the quantity and improved the strain.
I left that day with Cadillac Purple. It’s a strain I would never have bought (the name put me off), but I’ve since found it to be the best for my medical need. Now I almost exclusively buy that kind.
For those who need variety in their lives, but value some continuity, the types of selections here are constantly in stock and of high quality. This is important for the medical user. Some types can make symptoms worse. Finding the same strain to produce the same effect is an integral part of effective treatment.
Another selling point of The Green Door is the upstairs smoking lounge, Lounge 847. This is not to be missed. Those of us with children, like me, may no longer have paraphernalia or a safe place to use medicine. That makes it nice to go to a place like this to use a clean bong or a vaporizer. I love playing pool here, but the most important thing is being able to walk into a large room and see people from all walks of life smoking. Whatever your condition, community bonds often play an important role in healing and recovery. For many, the stigma still attached to medicinal cannabis makes this treatment option too difficult to discuss with certain family and friends. Not so here.
