The ubiquitous local pot brand has released batches of real infused cookies, and this could be the festival season’s new edible favorite.
The oft-imitated, never-duduplicated Bay Area cannabis brand Cookies is credited with inventing the groundbreaking Girl Scout cookies kind, but the cult-following streetwear and marijuana company co-founded by rapper and Sunset District resident Bernese has never baked or sold real, edible cookies.
Cookies by Cookies are just starting to arrive in San Francisco dispensaries, in three different varieties of: cherrypie, cookies and cream, and Mint Chocolate Chip. The company also launched a new line of infused Blue Hawaiian gummies this summer.
The cookies are made in partnership with Big Pete’s, a well-known Santa Cruz brand known to local pharmacy customers. The expertise shows, as these cookies are prepared with full-spectrum cannabis butter instead of the oil distillate most edibles use.
Cookies’ cookies come as a bag of ten baked goodies in a resealable zip-lock plastic bag, sturdy enough to carry to events or festivals with reasonable assurance that the contents will not be destroyed. These soft cookies can stick or break under challenging outdoor conditions, but generally come in a sturdy portable package.
The cookies begin to crack within 30 to 45 minutes of consumption with psychoactive effects. New users may want to start with just half the 10mg THC cookie, while regular stoners will likely eat two.
Cookies from Cookies are an affordable choice, at $25 for the 10-pack (before state and local taxes), a very pleasant price for 100 milligrams of THC in any form.
If you’re entertaining or having a picnic with a group, the novelty of Cookies by Cookies will dazzle anyone who recognizes the logo. You won’t get a remarkable high that will leave you raving about for weeks, but these cookies are a beginner-friendly, one-size-fits-all crowd pleaser that will generate delight well beyond the modest investment.
The novelty of Cookies by Cookies alone is worth an impulse purchase. But their perfect execution in form and packaging could make Cookies the surprising edible hit of the summer.
Potency: The 10mg of THC per cookie is the standard serving size for any edible treat. Just eat more of it if you want to increase the dope factor.
Odor: Each flavor has the normal characteristic smell of that cookie. Only if you stick your nose in a full bag and smell it deeply, you will notice a skunky smell.
Taste: These babies taste just like their non-infused regular cookie counterparts; they’re not as addictively delicious as literal Girl Scout Cookies, but they totally hold their own when compared to any non-craft cookie brand like Nabisco or Pepperidge Farm.
Appearance: Perfectly round, 2.5″ circumference, traditional looking cookies, packaged in a bright, colorful, sturdy zippered bag decorated with Cookies’ signature “Italic C” logo.
Medical Application: You’ll get both a body buzz and a high from these baked goodies, although they’re better suited for recreational day trips than for targeted medical effects.
Effect: Cookies from Cookies are a great snack jar product to share that will turn heads, and introducing people to this fresh new find will be a treat in itself.
