From the archetypal “magic brownie” to more elaborate dessert items such as truffles and ice cream, there is no shortage of edible drugs for medicinal cannabis patients who have a sweet tooth.
But those seeking savory medicinal snacks have far fewer options, which motivated Nick, the founder of Dream King edibles, to create Bomb Chips.
Bomb Chips are medicinal chips that really live up to their name. With a wide variety of traditional chip flavors available in 120mg THC single-serving pouches or 1000mg single-use pouches, these marijuana chips can serve as a discreet solo snack or the centerpiece of a medicinal movie or game night with friends. .
And for those looking for something sweet and unusually delicious, the chocolate covered chips are a real treat. Base flavors of milk, dark and white chocolate are combined with fillings such as peanut butter to turn chips into sweet, salty delicacies with a slightly less potent 100mg dose.
Appearance: Depends on the variety and taste, but with the savory flavors you get exactly the texture and appearance you would expect from a typical non-medicated potato chips. The habanero chips have a slightly stronger crunch, similar to a kettle chip. The coated chips have a smooth chocolate exterior with attractive accents ranging from sprinkled spices to a drizzle of chocolate in a contrasting color. The texture is crunchy thanks to the chip inside, but that crunch is offset by soft chocolate and filling ingredients like peanut butter.
Taste: When it comes to flavors, Bomb Chips has something for everyone who loves chips. Dream King, the edible company behind Bomb Chips, is constantly perfecting flavors and discovering new ones. But all the old favorites are there, including BBQ, ranch, and salt and vinegar. The coated chips are delicious and none of the bits I tried had oxidized or dried out chocolate. Likewise, the peanut butter in my favorite coated flavor was not crumbly, but the texture of real, fresh peanut butter.
Flavour: Again, flavor specific, but due to the high quality ingredients used, the aroma is very similar to the taste. The coated chips have a particularly nice smell, like walking into a chocolate shop.
Effect: The medication on all Bomb Chip varieties is clean, fast and effective. The dosage is not particularly high, possibly anticipating people’s tendency to eat a whole bag of chips.
Medical Applicability: Personally, I don’t like drawing a hard line between “medical” and “recreational” uses. If getting high relieves your condition and/or makes you feel better in general, call it what you want to call it, keep it up. That said, patients who need 1,000mg of THC at a time have much healthier, more practical options available than eating a full bag of chips. But for the patient who only needs a modest dose, the 120mg of THC in a personalized savory serving might just be the discreet delivery system they need in their lunchbox. The effects are clean and consistent, comparable to or exceeding those of comparable dosed edibles from other companies.
General impressions: With everyone in the cannabis industry eyeing potential legalization in 2016, it’s easy to imagine chips dominating the recreational edibles market in the same way they dominate the traditional snack industry. Only time will tell if Dream King becomes the Frito-Lay of legal edibles, but one thing’s for sure, those chips are seriously the bomb.
