come to daddy

You’ll be comfortably sedated with Papa & Barkley, whose Releaf Balms are the bomb in both THC and CBD dominant varieties.

A relatively new cannabis inmolten balm has started showing up on San Francisco pharmacy shelves—and disappearing as fast as jar stores can stock it. A range of tinctures, topicals and balms called Daddy & BarkleyRecognizable by their beautiful wood grain lids, they have become a cult hit among non-stoners seeking real pain relief.

SF Evergreen was intrigued, so we dipped our fingers in Papa & Barkley’s Releaf Balms. We thought this was a triumph of packaging and products that certainly deserve to keep gaining new fans.

These balms aren’t there to get you high, but they do provide a powerful punch to pain. Goopy green lotions that feel nice when applied, they also provide a feeling of numbness and muscle relaxation that sets in within five minutes and lasts for at least two hours.

The scent of Papa & Barkley’s Releaf Balm is one of the most exquisite scents we’ve come across in a cannabis product. It’s not like smelling moist, sticky flower buds. Instead, you get a whiff of marijuana mixed with other delicious scents like beeswax, coconut oil, lavender and peppermint.

Releaf Balms come in two different varieties, a 3:1 THC dominant formulation and another which is a 3:1 CBD to THC blend. We tried both and found that the 3:1 CBD version produced a much more effective result. Even if you consider yourself more of a THC person, the skin absorption physiology is simply better suited to CBD.

The only complaint we can make about this cream is that the shape of the jar makes it difficult to get to those last few applications. You just can’t reach certain parts of the jar, and you may be a little frustrated that your finger can’t reach the final rub of the container.

That said, this stuff is fairly modestly priced, with the 15-milliliter containers generally costing around $40 and the 30-milliliter jars costing around $75 (before state and local taxes).

The race to convert cannabis consumers who aren’t stoners or smokers still hasn’t had its first runaway hit product. These Releaf Balms can become that breakthrough product. And those with sore feet should definitely turn to Papa & Barkley when their dogs bark.

Potency: The 3:1 CBD-dominant formula serves as a pleasant muscle relaxant, while the 3:1 THC formula provides slightly less tangible, physical relief.

Odor: Simply one of the best smelling cannabis products on the market today, and a great antidote for runners who get stinky feet.

Taste: This is a topical balm, folks. You shouldn’t eat it, despite it smelling delicious enough to eat.

Appearance: The wooden lids of the containers stand out as exceptionally beautiful packaging, although the balm itself looks like pea soup.

Medical Application: Rub in Papa & Barkley Releaf Balm to rub away your aches and pains.

Effect: You won’t get high or feel anything psychoactive, but this balm will send your sore spots to a happy place.
