Finding the right person so far is quite complicated, but it is much harder for cannabis enthusiasts to find someone special who accepts the stoner lifestyle.
That’s why Todd Mitchem created High There, a Tinder-like app that seeks connections with other marijuana users.
“I hated dating on other sites and apps because once the idea of my cannabis consumption came up, the date was over,” Mitchem said in an interview with Co.Exist. “I actually walked out on a date (after payment of course) and said to myself, that’s it. Removing Mrs. Wrong from Mrs. Right was complex. Selfishly I hope this helps others like me.”
The app not only allows you to locate and date other cannabis users, but also to search for your ideal type of stoner partner. Whether you’re a health nut who strictly vapes, a college student who is a hardcore wax dabber, or an old-fashioned Thai stick joint-roller, High There can find a like-minded soul based on your weed preferences.
The app can also find matches based on energy level when you’re high, so you won’t be matched with someone who wants to take a brisk walk while you’d rather be stuck on the couch watching Netflix.
High There also serves as a social network for weed aficionados who just want to connect. It’s perfect for finding pharmacy recommendations, sharing edible recipes, or just making a new friend.
“We wanted to build a cool piece of technology that solves the problem of where millions and millions of cannabis consumers go to meet people, connect with people and build relationships,” Mitchem told Mashable. “A lot of people say we’re the Tinder of weed, but that’s just one facet of the whole thing. It’s so much bigger.”
For now, High There is only accessible in the 23 states that allow medical marijuana, out of respect for law enforcement. The free app is now available on Android and should be available in Apple’s App Store within a few days.
