Getting extremely high is always associated with a cost-benefit ratio.
Often the cost is a hit (or five) in a way that is sure to sear your lungs, be it dabbing or huge bong rips. The risk of potent edibles, of course, is that you don’t know exactly how long or how intense your altered state may last.
Now, with AbsoluteXtract’s limited-edition Fish Tanks, that problem is (temporarily) no longer an issue.
Created in collaboration with San Francisco artist Jeremy Fish, it should come as no surprise that these vape pens are gorgeous. Designed with a gold fish scale pattern, the pen can be used with any cartridge of your choice, providing much greater value than a disposable counterpart attached to a single cartridge forever.
The pen uses a one-button system, which turns it on and off with five clicks. In this case, simplicity is elegance, because with the Fish Tank cartridge that these babies come with, you don’t have to mess with temperatures.
Developed with Fish’s input, the tanks are filled with a proprietary oil based on the Tangie strain. The taste is simply divine as AbsoluteXtracts has added a little more mandarin orange to the mix, giving the flavor a natural yet rich fruit flavor that doesn’t make you feel like they just released a box of Fruity Pebbles.
Oh, did I mention that this oil is also the strongest on the market?
Watch out friends – Jeremy Fish doesn’t mess around. Each Fish Tank cartridge tests for over 90 percent THC, meaning if you take a hit of more than two seconds, you’re done right away.
Over several sessions, I noticed it was quite easy to over-medicate. After all, who can bother to time their hits? The Simpsons is on? However, here’s the final jewel in the Fish Tanks crown: this is one of the cleanest, least constraining highs I’ve ever had.
Instead of feeling chained to my bed or so crazy that typing this sentence would result in a series of emojis that even my wife can’t decipher, the Tangie oil provides a fiercely potent cerebral high that is both relaxing and energizing. At least twice, feeling more affected than originally planned, I welcomed my mistake.
Here I should note that I am not the type of consumer who usually copes well with being too medicated. I prefer the nibble-and-wait approach to jumping in feet first, but with the Fish Tank, I’m starting to rethink things.
The biggest downside to AbsoluteXtract’s product is, of course, the simple fact that it doesn’t last forever. As a resident of the Bay Area, San Francisco and its surrounding cities probably got the lion’s share of the shares, meaning readers may still be able to do that most non-stoner thing imaginable and put in the effort to get a set to detect.
And make no mistake: this is a set. In addition to the pen and cartridge, each kit comes with a very stylish chocolate brown velvet embossed gold fish carrying case. A select few were even able to get their hands on a very limited leather pouch shaped like – you guessed it – a fish, but let’s not go crazy here.
In general, limited-edition items with a plethora of collaborations touted as “special” or “rare” often don’t live up to the hype. You could argue that something as temporary as cannabis flower and oil is not pronounced in the same breath as ‘collectable’ – and nine times out of ten I agree with you.
The point is that the Jeremy Fish x AbsoluteXtracts kit is the exception, a product made with meticulous attention to detail and clearly designed by a person who values the power of cannabis as a healing and creation tool. It is, in short, the rarest thing: something that cannot be replaced.
